How to hire kitchen and floor staff, then check their assignments

The short answer

To hire restaurant staff in ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet, open Management's Staff feature, select a kitchen or floor slot and choose an eligible character. Game8 identifies fan status and the displayed hiring requirement as the starting checks, with kitchen eligibility restricting who can cook. Assignment changes take effect at the next day's start, so a substitute working today is not proof that the choice failed.

Ordinary restaurant-worker hiring is separate from finding a Straw Hat through a poster. Start with the role and empty slot you need, then check the customer who can fill it.

Choose an eligible customer for the correct role

  1. Open Management and its Staff entry. These are explanatory English names for the Japanese source's 経営→スタッフ route.
  2. Choose a kitchen slot if you need cooking capacity, or a floor slot if you need floor work. Inspect the candidates available for that role.
  3. If the intended customer is not eligible, inspect that customer's fan condition. Game8 says fans become available for worker recruitment; becoming a visitor alone does not complete this step.
  4. Read the actual hiring requirement. The staff guide describes hearts as the usual cost and battles for some characters; do not assume every candidate uses the same payment.
  5. Confirm the worker and role, then note the current in-game day so you can check activation at the correct time.

Wait for the next day's start before judging the change

The documented staffing change applies at the following day's beginning. A temporary substitute handles the change day. Check the assignment screen and the subsequent day rather than repeatedly changing the same slot during one service.

The selected role matters as much as the character. Game8 says kitchen work is restricted to suitable characters; a customer who can work on the floor is not automatically a kitchen candidate. The current role list is the useful selection boundary.

Use the relevant crew requests when all slots are full

Game8 links additional kitchen slots to Sanji's requests and additional floor slots to Nami's or Franky's requests. These appear with stage and crew-level progress; the article does not establish one fixed unlock day or a complete threshold table.

Inspect the request's condition and reward, finish the relevant one, then return to Staff to use the added slot. Recruiting more customers does not itself prove the slot-expansion request has been completed.

Check eligibility, cost, capacity and timing separately

  • Customer absent from the candidates: check fan status and suitability for the selected role.
  • Candidate visible but hire blocked: inspect that character's displayed hearts or battle requirement.
  • No empty kitchen or floor slot: pursue the corresponding slot request instead of expecting another hire to create capacity.
  • New character not working immediately: check the next-day activation point and temporary substitute before treating it as a bug.
  • Comparing staff: read the wages and requirements shown in your save. This guide does not establish a best-character ranking or a proven training-based cooking-speed bonus.

✓ How to check the result

The intended eligible worker is assigned to the correct role and is active at the next day's beginning. If a slot was the blocker, the added slot must also be visible and filled.
