Steam PC · Two different controller symptoms

Controller not working or showing the wrong button prompts?

The short answer

If the controller works in ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet but the displayed button labels are wrong, check this game's Steam controller override. When it is set to Enable Steam Input, the publisher suggests trying Use default settings or Disable Steam Input, then checking the labels again.

If no buttons respond, test the connection and Steam's device input first. The label-specific setting is a separate check.

A controller that sends no input and a working controller with incorrect button labels need different checks. This guide combines the publisher's two general Steam FAQs linked from Grand Gourmet's support page; it does not claim a tested fix for every controller model.

Choose the symptom before changing a setting

  • Buttons work, but the prompts do not match: start with the per-game Steam Input override below.
  • No controller response: start with the connection and device-input checks. Note whether the failure also happens in Steam's test or only inside Grand Gourmet.
  • A Steam Deck or external-controller issue: read the platform limits near the end. The PC procedures below do not establish a Deck-specific repair.

Working controller, wrong button labels

  1. In Steam Library, right-click ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet and open Properties, then its controller section.
  2. Record the current per-game override. The publisher's advice starts from Enable Steam Input.
  3. Try Use default settings or Disable Steam Input for that case. This is not a recommendation to disable the override for every player.
  4. Compare the game's prompts with your actual buttons and check that input still works. Restore the recorded setting if response worsens. If labels remain wrong, continue through official support.

No input: check recognition before the game

  1. Try a wired USB connection and a different port. Temporarily remove unnecessary peripherals while keeping a way to operate the PC.
  2. Fully exit and reopen Steam.
  3. In Steam > Settings > Controller, confirm the detected device and run Test Device Input > Begin Test.
  4. If that test receives no buttons, follow the publisher's Windows controller-recognition checks. This result does not establish a game-only fault.
  5. If the test works, inspect any in-game controller settings actually available. The official advice is conditional; it does not confirm a Grand Gourmet remapping screen.
  6. Use Steam Properties > Installed Files to verify this game's files, then retest the same input.

If the symptom persists

For an input problem, keep the controller model, wired or wireless connection, Steam device-test result, current per-game override and game version together. For wrong labels, note which prompt is displayed and which button actually performs that action. These observations distinguish the two cases when contacting support.

Driver or Steam-client reinstalls also appear in the publisher's general FAQ. They are escalation suggestions, not a diagnosed cause or required first step. Use its support route when the simple checks do not identify a useful change.

Steam Deck is a separate compatibility check

The publisher's Steam Deck FAQ directs players to the game's current Steam Store compatibility details and Valve's Deck support. It does not supply a Grand Gourmet-specific control fix. This guide does not establish that disabling Steam Input, reordering controllers or changing Proton fixes a Deck problem.

Check the current rating and its individual warnings on your device. A controller-related warning or a general PC troubleshooting suggestion is not a claim that every Deck setup has been verified. No Deck badge, frame-rate result or successful external-controller workaround is asserted here.

✓ How to check the result

For missing input, you can tell whether Steam receives the controller's buttons and whether the remaining failure is inside the game.

For wrong labels, only call the setting change successful if the prompts match your actual input and the controller still works. Otherwise preserve the result and continue through official support.
