Check whether crowded tables are lowering Comfort
The short answer
Game8's layout FAQ for ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet says densely packed tables lose a small amount of Comfort and that leaving one empty tile can avoid that crowding penalty. Its separate Comfort guide recommends two tiles in each direction to leave room for furnishings. The one-tile penalty check and the two-tile furnishing recommendation serve different purposes.
One-tile and two-tile gaps serve different purposes
- One empty tile: the reported crowding check.
- Two tiles: a separate recommendation for leaving furnishing space, not the threshold for a penalty.
Original schematic, not a game screenshot or an optimal grid. The plant is a planning symbol, not an item footprint or effect radius. Compare the same table’s displayed Comfort and account for other furniture influences.
Sources & review ↓Adding more seats can make a layout look efficient while its tables lose Comfort. A current Reddit reply flags crowding, and Game8's layout FAQ supplies a specific spacing check. This is a table-spacing diagnosis, separate from a table unexpectedly changing to the Deck theme.

Record the affected table before moving it
- Inspect the table you think is crowded and note its displayed Comfort. Keep track of its nearest tables and surrounding furnishings.
- Use the placement preview or Display Switch when available to compare the table values. The English opening walkthrough documents this way of seeing which tables a furnishing affects.
- Keep the same table as your comparison. Moving it can also change which furniture effects reach it, so spacing is not the only possible cause of a different number.
Test the gap without turning advice into a rule
- For tightly adjacent tables, try an arrangement with one empty tile between the neighboring tables, following the layout FAQ's crowding advice.
- Compare Comfort before and after. Where possible, keep the surrounding furniture influence comparable; otherwise note that the move changed both spacing and furniture coverage.
- If you need room for decorations, consider the separate two-tile recommendation. It is a planning choice for fitting furniture and reaching several tables, not proof that every table with less than two tiles is penalized.
- Confirm the arrangement only after checking the result in your game. Do not buy another table merely to test a gap when moving an existing one can answer the question.
If Comfort stays the same or falls further
Check whether the table moved out of a furnishing's effect area or changed theme. Return to the same table's preview and compare those influences before blaming every difference on crowding.
If the expected improvement does not appear, keep the before-and-after arrangement, Comfort values, platform and version. The sources do not give an exact penalty amount, a universal optimal grid or a guarantee that spacing explains your particular table.
✓ How to check the result
You can compare the same table with a gap and account for any changed furniture influence. Treat an observed Comfort improvement as your result; a one-tile layout alone does not prove all other Comfort conditions are satisfied.
