Progression · Story ending / eighth sea / sales ranking
What unlocks the mysterious eighth sea after the story ends?
The short answer
In ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet, Game8's Japanese postgame guide says the mysterious eighth sea unlocks after clearing the seventh sea and seeing the story ending. That is a different milestone from the Day 51 score tally. In the eighth sea, progression uses daily-sales ranking instead of the earlier rival restaurant, with further customers and collection goals to pursue.
If you have passed Day 51 but cannot find the postgame sea, check story progression first. Reaching the scoring checkpoint does not by itself show that the seventh-sea ending has happened.

Identify which milestone your save has reached
- Day 51 morning tally: the score checkpoint. Almanauts explicitly says play can continue after it; our speed-setting guide covers the option unlocked around this tally.
- Seventh-sea clear and ending: the prerequisite identified by Game8 for the next sea.
- Arrival in the mysterious eighth sea: the postgame stage with ranking-based progress and additional customer opportunities.
Complete the story prerequisite, then inspect the new destination
- Check the sea you are currently progressing and finish its actual objectives. Do not substitute the Day 51 score for an unfinished story stage.
- Continue through the seventh sea and finish its clear/ending sequence. The Japanese source calls that seventh sea 最凶の海; the name is given for identification rather than as a verified English localization.
- Inspect the newly available eighth-sea destination after the ending. Game8 calls it 不思議な海, explained here as the mysterious sea.
- Enter the postgame sea and inspect its ranking-based objective display before applying an earlier rival-restaurant target. The progression model has changed.
Use the ranking and collection screens for the next goal
Game8 describes daily sales improving your ranking and bringing additional customers in this sea. Follow the ranking requirements actually displayed in your game rather than a guessed universal endgame sales number.
The same article identifies hidden or movie-related customers and Straw Hat outfit changes among the postgame features. It also points to the character catalogue and commemorative-model progress for collection goals. These are useful choices after arrival, not extra prerequisites that must all be completed to unlock the sea.
Choose a specific remaining task, such as the maximum-Shop-Affinity customer goal, instead of treating every collection entry as one unfinished story objective. A catalogue encounter, a customer, a fan and a maximum-affinity customer can represent different checkpoints.
If the destination still seems unavailable
- Only the Day 51 tally is complete: resume story objectives; no reset or new save is established as necessary.
- Seventh sea unfinished: complete its actual clear condition and ending sequence first.
- Ending seen but the destination differs: keep the sea-selection screen, edition and version with a specific support question. These sources do not document a universal repair or a new-game-plus restart.
- Already in the eighth sea: inspect daily-sales ranking rather than searching for another version of the early rival's target.
✓ How to check the result
The eighth-sea destination is available after the story ending and its ranking-based progression can be inspected. Day 51's score result alone is not this completion check.
