How to unlock an Aquarium and put fish in it
The short answer
For ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet, Game8's Japanese request table identifies Luffy's Aquarium unlock: obtain a small fish from a treasure chest, then complete the request listed at 12 hearts. This gives a more specific checkpoint than simply waiting for another expedition. Check your own request screen before paying; this is a documented guide value, not our cross-platform playtest. Place the Aquarium after completing the request, then select it to set creatures you already own.
The opening walkthrough connects the Aquarium to Luffy's treasure finds. It does not give a fixed day or a guaranteed number of trips, so the useful next step depends on which part of that sequence is still missing.

Follow Luffy's treasure and request sequence
- Keep sending the opening expeditions and read the returned items and encounters.
- Follow Luffy's break-room introduction. Use his room to check the treasures brought back by exploration.
- Game8 lists obtaining a small fish from a treasure chest as the request trigger and 12 hearts as its completion requirement. Check Luffy's actual request details, then complete that request. No fixed expedition, drop rate or day is established here.
- Place the Aquarium awarded or made available through that sequence. Check the placement confirmation rather than treating the request alone as a built facility.
Select the Aquarium to choose its occupants
- Select the placed Aquarium to open its creature screen.
- Inspect the fish or creatures available in your current collection and choose what to set.
- Confirm the selection and check the facility's occupant display. If an encounter is still locked, return to its stated requirement rather than assuming every creature seen on a trip is already owned.
If you have fish but cannot use an Aquarium
- No request: check Luffy's room, the treasure-chest small-fish result and outstanding requests. A random creature sighting is not the same checkpoint. If the listed trigger or cost differs, keep the edition and version with your report instead of spending on an unrelated request.
- Request finished, no facility on the ship: check the awarded item or available construction entry and complete placement.
- Facility placed, no fish shown: select the Aquarium itself and inspect its available-creature list.
- Creature seen but unavailable: check the encounter's level or other requirement. A sighting is not proof that it was befriended or collected.
✓ How to check the result
An Aquarium is placed in the restaurant and its creature screen shows a selected occupant. Seeing a fish during exploration alone does not complete the task.
