How to make a new dish when ingredients are greyed out

The short answer

To make a dish in ONE PIECE: Grand Gourmet, open Shop → New Dish, choose a character with an idea, then select a recipe type and an available ingredient. Greyed ingredients are unavailable because you do not have them or have not met their conditions. Check the possible-dish result before confirming; making a dish and adding it to a Set Menu are separate steps.

A recipe list tells you about combinations. Your current cooking screen also depends on the character ideas, recipe cards and materials available in your save. This guide covers the development workflow rather than promising that every listed recipe is immediately unlocked.

Choose the inputs before spending them

  1. Open the menu and choose Shop, then New Dish.
  2. Choose an available character idea. If the idea you need is missing, check that character's availability before changing ingredients at random.
  3. Choose the recipe category for the dish you want, then an ingredient that the screen allows you to select.
  4. Read the result: a combination can show more than one possible dish. Select the intended result and confirm.
  5. Finish the dish's name and tableware choices and the tasting sequence. Then open Set Menu to choose whether to serve it.

If the ingredient cannot be selected

  • No ingredient in stock: inspect Explore destinations for its reward. After Nami's break room is available, also check what her shop currently sells.
  • No recipe card of that type: collect more through exploration instead of assuming a different food ingredient substitutes for the missing recipe.
  • Material owned but still greyed: inspect the screen's stated condition and chosen idea. The reviewed guides do not establish every global unlock threshold.
  • Wrong result or no desired dish: check all three inputs—idea, recipe category and ingredient. A similar food name does not prove the same combination.

Put the finished dish into the right set slot

Set Menu combines already developed dishes. Its Main, Side Dish, Dessert and Drink slots each accept their own category; two main dishes do not fill different slots simply because both are cooked.

If your goal was to change an existing meal, return to Set Menu instead of paying for another New Dish. If you can select foods but cannot create another set, check the separate set-capacity limit.

✓ How to check the result

The new dish finishes development and appears among the available dishes. To serve it, also save it into a suitable Set Menu slot.
